BAD FOOD FOR THE BODY

We have seen in that raw food is the best food for the body. Raw food is full of fibre and hence it helps the digested food to get out of our body as quickly as possible in the form of faeces. Having learnt what the best food for our body is, I am sure that you will be able to tell me what the worst food for the body is.
All foods that delay the passage of digested food through the intestines are considered as bad foods for the body. Food without fibre like bread and biscuits made of maida are bad foods. The digested food gets stuck to the intestines and remains there for days producing bad smelling gas. The food rots in our body unable to go out. Assimilation process is still going on. If this rotten food is assimilated, you are sure to get sick.
Food that is difficult to digest also has to remain in the body for a long time leading to all sorts of problems. Due to the temperature of our body, the food rots soon. That is why people living in cold countries suffer from indigestion when they eat meat in India. They put the blame on bad quality of meat. But the real reason is that meat takes a long time to digest. Hence it rots in the body producing stomach pain and indigestion.
Another favourite food of the people is fried stuff. Food fried in oil is called fried food. Oil can reach temperatures of 175 to 195 degrees. The food loses all its nutrients and becomes indigestible after it is fried in oil. Also it is harmful to the body due to the conversion of soluble fat into insoluble fat. This type of fat found in fried stuff is absolutely a waste. And you will have to undergo some fever to remove this stuff from your body. Hence whenever you put any type of fried food into your body; remember that soon you will have to suffer to remove it from your body. If you do not suffer from minor fever, then you will soon suffer from some major disease to remove the dirt from your body.
Unfortunately, due to the experiments made in the kitchen, we have stopped eating food in their natural form. Unless we do all sorts of things to the naturally found vegetables and fruits, we are not satisfied. It is horrifying to note that such a wonderful fruit like banana too is eaten by many people only after coating it with red chilly powder.
          Many of the drinks we take regularly like tea and coffee are addictive. Many people suffer from headaches if they miss their morning or evening cup of tea or coffee. This shows that tea and coffee are bad drinks for our body. What about the soft drinks? Most of the fruit juices available in the market do not contain even a drop of fruit juice!! They contain artificial fruit flavours and fruit colours which are harmful to our body. Many of us know this and yet we are not able to keep our hands away from bottle of soft drinks.
What about salt we use in all our cooked dishes? This salt is jut a chemical and is the cause of many of our diseases like asthma, heartburn, stomach cancer, high BP, etc. Salted potato chips are absolute poison. It is a fried food and also full of salt. No artificial salt can replace the natural salt found in fresh fruits and vegetables.
What about sugar? People love to eat sweet items. But sugar is also a poison which we intake daily. Sugar is the cause of so many diseases like diabetes, obesity, gout, etc.
Nowadays we find people grabbing a slice of bread for breakfast since they have not time to prepare any other dish. This slice of bread is made of maida and has absolutely not fibre. After digestion, it gets stuck to the walls of the intestine and causes constipation. You will need tablets to remove this digested bread from your body!! Bread has no nutrition at all. It just fills the stomach and that’s it!
I have no words to say about smoking, drinking and taking drugs. Everyone knows that they are bad for the body. All these are slow poisons and people who are addicted to them are slowly taking their body to the grave. A grave bad karma is created due to knowingly harming the vehicle called the ‘body’.

SECOND BEST FOOD FOR OUR BODY

We have seen how the best food for our body is fruits, vegetables and nuts. But through the years after the discovery of fire, we have changed our habits. We have started eating cooked food. Cooked food has now become the common food and the habit pattern of our mind has changed. It is not easy to change over from cooked food to raw food in a day. Our mind will create all sorts of fear in our mind that we will become weak and die without cooked food.
But the change is possible. We can start with one day of raw food per week. Our weight will reduce at first but as the days go by we will start gaining weight in spite of the fact that we are still eating only raw food. We will start feeling young and energetic all the time. Our skin will become smooth and shinning. Our hair will become strong, black and stop falling. Wrinkles on the face will be reduced. We will start looking younger.
When we cook food, nutrients in the food get destroyed. The more we heat, the less nutrients we remain. If we cannot give up cooked food all together, we can try with half cooked or half boiled food so that we that all the nutrients will not get destroyed. Just make the vegetables soft enough to chew and eat. Some people think that eating such half cooked vegetables will lead to indigestion. But that is not true. God has given us teeth to chew. If we chew properly and allow our saliva to get mixed with the food before swallowing the food, we will never suffer from indigestion.
Some people cook the food so much that the food enters the throat immediately without staying in the mouth for long. This is not right. Food has to remain in the mouth for a while so that it gets mixed with the saliva properly. Saliva helps in digestion. Only a patient who has lost his teeth needs to eat a fully cooked food. All others can eat half cooked vegetables which is much better for health.
Roughage or fibre is very important for food to move through the intestine after digestion. If our food is devoid of roughage, it is not able to move easily through the intestines. If food remains in our body for long after digestion, it rots there and starts smelling. Smelly gasses emanate from this rotting food. If this rises to other parts of the body, we suffer from stomach aches and also head aches. The food becomes toxic. Our body starts absorbing this toxic matter leading to more suffering.
When we apply heat to the vegetables, the fibre or roughage is lost. Hence fresh, raw vegetables are the best for our body. It is very important that food does not remain in our body for long after the process of digestion is over.
Some nuts like green gram are too hard to eat. We can soak them in water and allow them to germinate. Such germinated grams are very good for our body. They are full of nutrients. Eating just one spoonful of such germinated grams will give our body so much freshness and energy for the whole day’s work. Germinated grams (raw) are also good roughage. If you want to consume more then you can cool them partially. If you cook them totally, you will be destroying the nutrients completely.
Boiled vegetables also form the second best food for the body. Boiled beans, beetroot, potato, carrot, etc can be included as a dish during lunch. Cook them just enough to be able to chew easily. Don’t cook them so much that you are able to swallow them without chewing!!
Coming to rice, boiled rice, red rice are the best since nutrients will be intact in it. White rice is the worst since it has absolutely no nutrients in it. It will only form bulk. White rice has no roughage to help the disposal of digested food from the intestine. We can replace rice with wheat, ragi or jawar. These have more nutrients. If you want to become thin, you can stop eating rice.
By following the above tips, you can help your body remain healthy longer. Your soul need not look for another body (vehicle) so soon. To say in simple terms, you will live longer.

When we purchase a new vehicle, we are very careful about the petrol we put into the vehicle. Suppose some body says that petrol is available at a cheaper rate in a small shop. Will you immediately go and purchase it for your vehicle? No. You will laugh and say that you do not want to spoil your vehicle by putting such sub standard petrol into it. You will still go to a standard petrol pump and purchase petrol there. You know very well that if you put sub standard petrol into your vehicle, it will get spoiled soon.
We are all souls. And a soul is nothing but energy. This energy needs a body to fulfil the millions of dreams it has. Hence it takes a vehicle ie. body. It goes about doing various activities using this body. When the body becomes old and useless, it discards this body and takes another body. The process continues till the soul is freed from all desires for a new birth. After that it remains as an energy and does not have to take up another life.
Coming to our body, it is a vehicle for us to go about doing our duties. We have to make sure that it lasts at least 70 to 80 years so that we get enough time to fulfil our dreams. And also, it must run smoothly without giving us any trouble. For this, we must first understand what type of fuel we have to put into this vehicle of ours so that it will run smoothly for at least 70 to 80 years.
Looking at the nature of a human body, it is clear that it is made to consume fruits, vegetables and nuts. Hence the best food for a human body is raw fruits, raw vegetables and raw nuts. The best drink is pure water. You might argue that man cannot live without cooked food. But remember that fire was discovered by man. What about the people who lived before fire was discovered? What did they eat? Of course, the habit pattern of our mind and body has changed through years. Our mind is convinced that this body cannot live without cooked food. If four persons sit at a place and start fasting, it is the person with the weakest mind that dies first and not the person with the weakest body! This shows how important our mind is.
Unfortunately food has become one of the means of enjoyment for the human beings. We put all types of food into our mouth without thinking of the effect of this food on our body. We forget that taste is felt only by the tongue. Once it enters the throat there is no taste at all! Through the years quality of food available in the market has deteriorated a lot. Even fresh vegetables have become slow poison due to the pesticides, fertilisers and chemicals added to them. The oil used to prepare food is no longer pure. People have become careless and lazy. Earning money has become the main goal of every human being. Corruption is rampant in all departments of life.
 A person who has his own vegetable garden is the luckiest person. He can grow fresh vegetables best for his body. But not all are lucky. We have to depend on the fruits and vegetables available in the market.
Some people eat wrong foods and yet they are healthy. And some others always eat healthy foods and yet they are unhealthy. This is due to their good and bad karma. Some people eat wrong foods but their good karma saves them from sickness! But this does not mean that we must become disheartened and stop caring about what we eat. Unfortunately we can never know what type of karma we have in our stock. So why take the risk? Let us make sure that we eat good food and keep our body fit. It is our duty to put healthy food into our mouth and keep our body fit. Hence eating unhealthy food and making our body suffer can also create a bad karma. We are not supposed to harm our body in any way.
Salads must form a compulsory dish during lunch or dinner. Fresh vegetables cut into small pieces or grated with a bit of salt and lemon juice to taste. Carrot, cucumber, coriander leaves, beetroot, etc can be used raw for the salad. You can add germinated grams too.
